TVS Motor Company established TVS Racing in 1987
with the objective of improving the performance of its products and since has
benefitted significantly in terms valuable data with regard to design inputs,
vehicle dynamics and handling. It all began way back in 1984 when Sundaram
Clayton Limited (A TVS Group Company) introduced its 50 CC mopeds in the arena
of road racing, notching up unbelievable speeds of 105 kmph.
The years that followed saw the introduction of several models that TVS Racing
introduced into the racing arena. TVS Racing introduced the 100 cc AX 100 into
road racing and developed their first indigenously built Motocross bike, more
popularly known as Shogun, to participate in the Expert Class Group B bike category.
Higher cubic capacity categories in the year 2000 meant that TVS needed to upgrade
their Motocross bikes and introduced the TVS 250x and TVS 400x models, which were
high performance, state-of-the-art, two and four stroke models. TVS Racing subsequently
developed the RTR 250 fx motorcycles which are currently used by the team for the
prestigious National Supercross Championship.
TVS Racing has to its credit an astonishing 92% wins in all leading racing events in
the country since 1987. It has won National Supercross Championship for more than a decade.
Other prominent wins include the Srilankan SLARDAR Championship in 2011, National Rally Championship,
National Dirt Track Championship. The team has won a number of other National and International
racing events in various categories of two-wheeler motorsport.
The team comprises of a mix of highly motivated engineers and tuners who are continuously involved
in performance and reliability improvements so that the team remains ahead of competition. Team riders
are well trained and groomed both physically and mentally to be sharp and highly competitive.
Over the years, TVS Racing has produced the best riders in the country in all forms of two-wheeler racing.
TVS Racing’s race-a-bike scheme, a first by any manufacturer in the country, helps new
comers to experience racing at an affordable cost. It has helped the team to identify fresh
talent. TVS Racing supplies and maintains the motorcycles while riders have to pay a nominal
fee to register and participate in races conducted by MMSC (Madras Motor Sports Club). Many who
started off with this scheme, went on to become part of the TVS Racing team and win the
National Championships.
TVS Racing is privileged to be part of the training program offered by The California Super bike school,
a great platform for road racing riders to train with professional trainers from America.
